Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia is an increasingly common clinical syndrome whose increasing incidence is, in part, due to increasingly invasive medical interventions. The organism can behave very virulently and often is multi-drug resistant. Staphylococcus aureus can cause multiple infectious syndromes including one of the more feared, infectious endocarditis.
